MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Student Advisory Committee of the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center is to thoughtfully, passionately and effectively liaise between the Vassar student body and the museum, while acting as a bridge to academic departments, campus organizations, the Poughkeepsie community and the broader public.
The Committee’s primary function is to facilitate equitable access to our dynamic collection for all students through the generation of a program of events and exhibitions. Committee-organized events in the Loeb and the surrounding New York area serve students by generating peer-to-peer dialogue and excitement about art, and by opening channels of communication between individuals, departments and communities.
Through this collaborative programming, the Committee seeks to enrich student experience, enhance visitor diversity and stimulate intellectual and aesthetic interest. Moreover, the Committee celebrates the Loeb’s foundation as the first U.S. art museum to be included in the original plan of a college or university, providing an outlet for passionate students to honor and enjoy this significant historical space on Vassar’s campus.
